A little love after a long neglect...............

Well there has certainly been a lot of non-Jeep activities in our life over the past 4 years, but now the Jeep is back in the garage for a little TLC.

The boys finally got their learners permits in Dec 2014 and should be ready for their G2 licences in a month.  They have been practising on the Jeep and have done will with the manual tranny.  Before the boys drive the Jeep on their own it needs some additional work.

The steering had noticeable play so I thought we should change all the tie rods up front, as well as the front shocks since they are shot.  Both of those jobs were not too bad, but the underneath did have quite a bit of rust.

While the Jeep was up on stands I decided to see why there is oil drips on the driveway.  Turns out the oil pan has rusted through from the outside and oil is weeping out.  A new pan and gasket has been ordered and should be in next week.

Another job that I have meant to do for a few years is fixing the rust on the front fenders and under the doors.  So now it the time for that job.  We have just removed the front fender flares and purchased some sheet metal.  Next will be to cut out the offensive rust and weld in the new pieces.  I'll try to capture some pics of that.

Lastly, the horn stopped working a while ago and so we had to troubleshoot the issue.  You can see the engine fuse panel opened up in this pic.  We have determined that there is a break in the wire from the horn button to the coil side of the horn relay.  Instead of ripping apart the wiring loom I think I will just run a new wire from the relay to the horn button.

That's it for now.
